Ingredients to make wonton soup broth recipe

First Step

You need to prepare the ingredients for making the wonton soup broth.

  • Prepare ten cups of chicken broth, you can choose the canned ones with low sodium content.
  • You need to also prepare half-pound of grounded pork, one egg yolk, scallions, thirty wonton wrappers, bok choy, shitake mushrooms, and also bamboo shoots.

Aside from the previously mentioned ingredients, you need to also prepare the seasonings. Get a quarter teaspoon of crushed red pepper, a half teaspoon of sesame oil, one and a half teaspoons of rice wine vinegar, two teaspoons of soy sauce, one teaspoon, and one tablespoon of minced garlic, two tablespoons of chopped ginger, and one tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Before you move on to the main preparation of the wonton soup broth recipe don’t forget to wash the meat and also the bok choy. Next, you can slice the scallions thinly until you get a quarter cup, then chop the rest until you get about three tablespoons.

Slice the bok choy thinly for about one and a half cups, and also slice the shitake mushroom caps and bamboo shoots until you get a half and a quarter cup respectively.


First, you need to heat a large soup pot or saucepan over medium heat then pour in the oil and heat it until hot. Next, make sure that the oil is hot enough so you can add the chopped ginger and one tablespoon of minced garlic then stir them until fragrant.

Add the chicken broth and scallions then set the heat to low and let the broth simmer for about twenty to thirty minutes while you are preparing the wonton.

Now we are going to prepare the wontons. You can mix the remaining chopped ginger, minced garlic, pork, egg yolk, scallions, rice wine vinegar, red pepper, soy sauce, and sesame oil, in a small bowl. After you have mixed the wonton filling, now you need to prepare the wrappers.

Put a spoonful of wonton filling into the wrappers then wet the edges so it will be sticky when you enclose the wonton wrapper.

Afterward, we will start the main part of the wonton soup broth recipe right away. You can go back to the chicken broth then add the bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and bok choy. Cook for about two to three minutes then add the wonton you have prepared before.

If you want to have it straight away for dinner then it is highly suggested that you cook the wonton right before dinner time so the soup will not get sticky and starchy.
